Baligtos

BALIGTOS - /ba-lig-tos/ - noun. the Visayan term for 'tie'-- a long narrow piece of material worn (mostly by men) under a collar and tied in knot at the front

My weekend's completely fine; peaceful and relaxing. It wasn't a typical Friday though (Friday is the weekend here in Saudi) since I usually go out to unwind with friends. It's plainly fine çoz' I just stayed in my room and took a rest, until I finally thought of taking some photos. It took me hours actually to figure out what could possibly trance my lens until I noticed the ties left hangin' in my closet. So, I started my 'photoshoot' ...hehe..and here it goes..

"If men can run the world, why can't they stop wearing neckties? How intelligent is it to start the day by tying a little nose around your neck."
- Linda Ellerbee
"When one by one our ties are torn, and friend from friend is snatched forlorn; when man is left alone to mourn, oh! then how sweet it is to die!"
- Anna Letitia Barbauld
"With an evening coat and a white tie, even a stockbroker,
can gain a reputation for being civilized."
- Oscar Wilde
"When you reach the end of the rope, tie a know in it and hang on."
- Thomas Jefferson
"Question everything. Every stripe, every star, every word spoken. Everything."
- Ernest Gaines
Two-color prints are a little harder to do because everything has to line up perfectly. "

Paglambo

I've just started this blog and there really is this feeling of enthusiasm to make this work out. I don't know where this comes from but I think my passion to photography these days has pushed me to post more entries and do sorts of enhancements. So, here's my second compilation of photos. This entry deals on the beauty that I have seen in industrialization. And the blog title itself, PAGLAMBO /pag-lam-bo/, a Visayan term which means development, generally introduces the concept of the photos in this entry. In my first blog, my subject focused more on the natural environment, and this new entry will be the other side of it. My photos are not too artistic though (as you may see), since I just applied what I have generally known about the principles of art, and haven't really had any formal lessons about photography. But I think as a newbie, this can be a good start. So, hope you'll like it.

"Each man has an equal social right to multiply his power of motion by all the social factors of civilization. Private property in any of these factors is inconsistent with this fundamental right; it must, obviously, prove a source of economic despotism and industrial slavery. "

Palibot

One of the most celebrated subject in photography is our nature.
It has something that catches one's attention without considering any principles of art at its peak.
It has the attitude that requires no one to ask.
It has a gem that other subjects of my lense can't achieve.

"The goal of life is living in agreement with nature."
Zeno (335 BC - 264 BC)
Early Morning at the Desert
"Every time I have some moment on a seashore, or in the mountains, or sometimes in a quiet forest, I think this is why the environment has to be preserved."

-Bill Bradley
American retired NBA
Basketball Player and Senator

"Flowers . . . are a proud assertion that a ray of beauty out values all the utilities of the world."

Ralph Waldo Emerson
(1803-1882)
"We say we love flowers, yet we pluck them. And people still wonder why some are afraid when told they are loved."

-Anonymous

"The tree which moves some to tears of joy is in the eyes of others only a green thing that stands in the way. Some see Nature all ridicule and deformity, and some scarce see Nature at all.  But to the eyes of the  man of imagination, Nature is Imagination itself. "

William Blake

" I believe our biggest issue is the same biggest issue that the whole world is facing, and that's habitat destruction."

Steve Irwin

"If a man walks in the woods for love of them half of each day, he is in danger of being regarded as a loafer.  But if he spends his days as a speculator, shearing off those woods and making the earth bald before her time, he is deemed an industrious and enterprising citizen."

Henry David Thoreau
